"Once in a while, you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right"
Beginnings of the North Wind Gravel Classic
The Tug Hill has been host to numerous recreational events over the years. These events have primarily catered to winter recreation (snowmobiling, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing) and ATV events in the warmer months. Many years ago, the Tug Hill hosted a cyclocross/MTB race called Race with the Wind. After a few short years the race ended. Other races/events have come and gone through the years.
Fast forward and as gravel becomes the largest growing segment of cycling our local group of weekend warriors begins to grow. A growing misguided band of miscreants who are, quite frankly, better off hidden in the woods somewhere out of the public eye begin to "talk crazy talk" about putting together this event.
We are simply a group of local yokels that have an insane passion for cycling, the gravel that we have the great fortune of riding, and more importantly an insane passion for our area.
